Installation Note:
Installation Notes:

The axle brackets must be welded on with the axle installed and the vehicle at loaded ride height. This is to ensure that the torque tamer is installed at the optimal angle.

To avoid binding at the torque tamer we recommend that your drive shaft is within 1-2° of your pinion angle. If not we offer pinion shims during purchase to fix your pinion angle.

If you have 400 horsepower at the crank, 35-inch or larger tires, and do aggressive off-roading, we recommend you install the torque tamer with the traditional axle weld-on brackets that come with the kit.

The Torque tamer is only intended for Bronco Platforms – It WILL NOT work on F-Series Trucks as the bar is not long enough for the wheelbase.

If your Bronco has an Electronic Shift on the Fly Servo, ESOF, this will require you to mount the main bar below the Torque Tamer cross-member. ESOF install example is shown in photos 1, 2 & 3. For more information please read our installation instructions.

Information

Big Tires, Tall Lifts, low-geared axles, high torque motors, & soft long-travel leaf springs – are why you need the Torque Tamer. Any combination of these can make it incredibly difficult to control your Bronco. Plus without the Torque Tamer, you’ll experience leaf spring damage and u-joint failure! Ordinary traction bars limit travel & over time, can prematurely wear out your Bronco. Our anti-wrap traction bar has a V-frame center link for strength and utilizes a specially designed shackle to eliminate axle wrap. The bar runs between the mufflers, paralleling the driveline and protecting it. The Torque Tamer also maintains proper u-joint and CV angles under power. The main bar attaches to a high clearance cross-member and shackle. The cross-member mounts up between the frame rails and helps protect your CV joint and output shaft from trail obstacles.
  • Completely eliminate U-Joint failure
  • Stop axle wrap in its tracks
  • Does not compromise suspension travel
  • No DIY or Engineering is required comes fully powder coated and ready to install
  • This design works great on or off-road & does not bind up like others on the market
  • Only welding required is to the axle, leave the guesswork to us
  • Cross-member, 100% bolt-in, hardware included works for ’78-96′ C-channel Broncos
  • Double sheer axle brackets for superior strength. Offered for 8.8″ or 9″ axles

Purchased the “Torque Tamer” for my ’79 Bronco and I LOVE IT! Just like all the products I’ve purchased before from you guys, the quality is OUTSTANDING!!! Installed easily with a little modification, but the end result speaks for itself. Can really feel a traction difference. Thanks Duff Boys, you’re the BEST!

I haven’t installed the torque Tamers yet for my 1992 Bronco but they look and feel great. Well made

  4. Dan S. (verified owner)

Had to modify a little because I used it on a 88 B11, but it still seemed to work fine did not have axle wrap this time out over the weekend

  5. Rick Garrigan

Got the long travel “Torque Tamer” installed and I am very pleased. Went together pretty easy and straight forward. I am using Deaver springs and they are great, but are very susceptible to axle wrap and when I am towing the Trailer Beast it is even worse. My first seconds driving the 4BTBB I could tell it was healed…lol. Very sturdy construction and HD hardware where needed.
